I finally found a G 705--well sort of. It's a MF 97. When I'm done with the restoration the plan is it WILL be a 705. I know it's not probably proper but I doubt I'll have a chance at a better tractor (this one is in great shape) that I can afford and finally have the MM I've always admired. I'll need lots of help though. The first step is to assure that the 705 and the 97 are indeed exactly the same except color and markings. If that's the case (somebody please let me know) I need some help finding a MM hood emblem. I've seen them that say MM pulling team )don't know where to get one though) that would be ok but I'd rather have an exact original or aftermarket original. While all that is happening I need a wiring diaghram. My manual does not show even one part of the wiring. This one has been changed to a single wire alternator. I'm ok with that but it's not wired. What is there is a mess. Does anyone have one of those available that they could scan and email? Sorry for the long post. I'm sure you will be hearing a lot from me in the coming months. Thanks for the help...

The top and bottom castings on the radiator are different (round)-the radiator core is the same. The seat is different as one fellow already said in addition to being two tone grey and red. The hydrolic hook up was also different and there were grey knobs on most of the levers and the drawbar hookups were also different. The MF 97 model number was used to mark both two and 4 wheel models; where as the MM 2 wheel is G 705; the 4 wheel (front wheel assist) was G706). I had the operators manual and a factory brochure which shows the total tractor and statistics and cut away, etc. which I gave to a fellow in Minn who restored his 97 as a 97---which is what I would suggest to you as there were many fewer 97 manufactured than the MM models. I also can tell you that there are also some other minor differences which were added on the line depending on the work order listing the additions ordered by the customer for the specific unit---I worked on the line at MM lake street plant and they came off the same line--maybe a few molines and then a Massey or two and then a MM and so on depending on the orders--the first ones being manufactured and off the line usually being made in the order they were received from the dealerships who had firm orders from customers. If you need to see or wish more info, I can give you the name and e-mail of the person that I gave the books to--- WITH HIS PERMISSION! Good luck--I do know a fellow in Minn who has a G 705 MM diesel that runs well--- IF you really want one of them. I really think it would be cheaper, easier and MORE PROFITABLE to have it left as a 97.

Thanks everyone. I certainly don't dislike the Massey I have a 245 that I restored that does most of the hay work. The red and silver are a nice combination. I really like the MM though. Maybe I'll keep this one a Massey and continue to work in the MM direction. I think I'll be able to coax yet another tractor out of my wife before I die. I guess I'll need to give it a think. I don't want to change the grill and seat as both are in really nice condition and...I guess I'll always know that it's not a true MM without making all of the modifications. At least it make the distinctive MM sound!

Headlights go to the rear fender. Seat was supposedly different on a 97 vs. a 705. Never confirmed that myself.

Personally think the 97 is a pretty handsome piece when restored. Everyone who cares knows what it really is. All they have to do is listen!

Massey seats were different than MM. Massey used a seat similar to IH with the rubber torsion springs. I may have a spare Massey seat around.

you will need a grill and radiatior and a hood to make it a 705. I have a few of those pieces and i need a grill for a massy 97 if you want to do some trading.
