I have found a pretty decent GBD for sale. Its pretty clean, decent tires, sheet metal. Hasnt run in about 10 years but kept inside. I havent seen any for sale in a while so im not sure what they are going for. They dont have a price and want me to make an offer. Any help is apprecated. Thanks Jake

I was told 2500-3500 is a fair range for a running one. The auction last month north of Alexandria MN a few sold for
ran last fall- no grantee it ran for 2200
2nd on stuck missing fuel system sold for 850

Last fall I sold mine for 4000, ran but unrestored

I was to an auction near Ft. Wayne, Ind. on January 15, 2000 that had a restored GTBD. (I saved the sale bill in a book of memorabilia) That one was in nice condition and sold for $3,700. Among other tractors at the sale were a restored '59 730 J.D. gas, $7,000, a '57 Massey 444 diesel, $2,500 and a 4020 diesel with 250 hours on a rebuild for $8,500.

Jake,
In the midwest that sounds like a $1500-2500 tractor. I haven't seen a decent GBD sell for less than $1500 anytime recently. Rough ones seem to bring at least $1000. If its been sitting that long I don't recommend trying to turn it over especially if its got a Bosch PSB pump on it. If the pump plunger is stuck you can damage it by trying to turnover the engine resulting in an expensive repair bill.

Brian

Thanks for the tips. How do you unstick the plunger if it is. How do you tell? I figured the tractor would be in the 1500-2000 range, if it wasnt running.

On the diesel pump remove the metal cover held on with 2 screws. It is where the fuel shutoff cable is. Behind the cover you will see a gear. Turn the motor over by hand slowly. Make sure the gear turns freely. If plunger is stuck you will twist the shaft off.

Can i free it up from there? Or does the pump need to come off? Im assuming if it sits for a while, the fuel gums up and thats what makes it stick.

You can just take pump off. Turn it by hand. If it is stuck I usually take lines off and put conditioner in head. The pump normally doesn't stick. If the shaft is broken a four cylinder pump is the same. I had a Massey 95 that sat outside for 20 years never stuck but it had conditioner in system.the pump is easily removed and is not hard to time.
