I have an M5 diesel and the motor is junk. I was wondering if it is possible to put 504 blocks on it.

Our M-5 gas gave up the engine this past fall after 15,000 + hours on the farm.

We have it in the shop now tearing it down and are going to repaint it compleatly and re-power the engine with a 3.9L Cummins B4 engine with no charger set to about 60 HP.

This should be a really neat tractor when it is done, and we hope to paint it up and put all the origional parts back on it so that the only way you will be able to tell it is different is when you start it. Course a real Moline person will spot the different engine, but I am hoping to really make people look to be able to tell.

I will keep you posted as we get it finished up this summmer.

Hello, Shep VA! I would love to see some "progress" photos of your M5 project! I repowered two Molines: a White 2-150, and an Oliver 2655. Both of these had 585 engines. The 2655 even had a factory turbo (called an "altitude compensator"). A lot of work, but a nice result. Best wishes, and a Blessed Easter to you!

I've obtained all the .060 over pistons and rings for my 504's from Welters in MO. As I recall, they're pricey but I'm not aware that getting them is a problem

504 motors use the same cylinder blocks as your M5 with the 336 motor.

I can probably save the old blocks but I will have to bore them. Does anyone know where I can find oversized pistons and rings.
