I am contemplating finding a MM670 Super diesel. I like the looks of the tractor and am wondering if they are reliable tractors for field work, primarily mowing hay with 9ft haybine. Also wondering if parts are available for this model? Are the 670 diesel motors strong? Approx. what does one weigh?

Used to have a 670 gas. The only thing I thought could be better was gear spacing. We usually plowed (4- 16"s) in low 4th. It had enough torque to pull through tough spots so being in low range wasn't a big problem. When pulling that hard the front tended to lift, even with a lot of weights. The next comparable speed was hi 2nd, which was faster than low 4th. But dropping to low second in tough spots was a big drop, too slow. For most things the speeds weren't a problem. Often wished we'd kept it.

I have to agree with you as the 670's werent geared real good for plowing. We pretty much liked our 670 diesel for everything but plowing.

We pulled 4x16's with ours but a neighbor with a 670 LP pulled 5x16's.

How was fuel consumption on your 670? I have a gas and plan on doing a little fall plowing with it.

Did any of the mm's have differential lock? Been thinking about a super 670 diesel/lp myself.

I have a Jetstar 3 super that cuts hay with a JD 1209 with no problem at all. I also have an M670 Diesel that does most of the mid level work.

To my knowledge they are a good tractor. I like the looks of them too. You should be able to handle a 9 foot haybine just fine. I have a 1966 model, gas. They weight approximately 7200 to 7400 pounds, depending on fuel and front end styles. A neighbor was visiting one day, he has JDs, and looked at the M670 and said I always like the looks of these, they looked so neat.
