how do you remove fan assembly from water pump? does it screw on or is it pressed on?

It is pressed on but be careful taking it off or you will break the impeller. It is cast.

The fan blades have 4 bolts that pass through the hub and thread into the pulley.
The hub itself is pressed on the water pump shaft. You can remove it by supporting the hub and pressing on the end of the shaft.

If you are looking at it on the tractor, on some models there is not enough room between the hub and the radiator to remove the fan blade bolts.

Remove the air cleaner, remove the 3 bolts on the pump mounting plate down in front of the distribuitor, remove the brace to the front head bolt, separeate the water outlet tube either at the pump or at the front cylinder block, then rotate the whole assembly 90 to 180 degrees counter clockwise so the pump mount plate clears everything and remove from the tractor.

Then pump repairs can be made at the workbench.

From experience, trying to change a pump on the tractor can be a $450 mistake if you puncture your radiator.
