I was thinkling about an MM G-704,
can the seat be lowered down or does it just sit up and ride funny like this older M5 I was around alot of my uncles,
how do you adjust the seat on the M, and G series as ive seen a alot of them and I dont like siting up in the air and leaning down to grab the wheel,
wheres a good place to get trim parts for that series of tractors,
Also Ive been on the MM websites and no one wants to take care of them and no one cares it seems to get back to you when you need help on something,
Or even to call you back and follow up,

Hi Kirk
What are you doing on here I though you were a V8 Massey guy? Just kidding. I have a Massey 97 95 and a MM705 but dont know much about them yet, I will need to replace rings etc as they are all mostly poor starters. They do look good though. Once I get the enging fixed up on my 1155 I hope to build a big trailor and put one of the other Masseys or the 705 on when driving to local shows.
Please keep in touch if you get one, we can maybe share information. I have been told you cannot get replacemnt pistons or cylinders for them at the moment so I suppose the only thing to do would be hone the bores and try to fit oversize rings to tighten things up.
Talk later.
Bill

I agree with the other guys I try only to answer if I am sure of my answer and dont reply if it is a guess . I went and looked through some books and on a G705 I would think they have the same seat set up it adjust front to back and there is a weight adjuster on it to adjust the height and spring it may not be the same set up but that is how many of these tractors were I know our M5 is that away and my G 900 is similar also

Hi Kirk, I personally try to help anytime I can. Don't have any experience with the big Molines so I can't help this time. Keep on trying, I had a hard time getting info when I started in MMs in 1988 but I personally know many of the guys on all these boards and most would rather not answer than give guesses. Hope this helps some. John

Kirk,
Don't know anything about the G704 seat. You can probably move it if you want. Torches and welders are handy for that kind of thing. If steering wheel position is a problem, you might consider a longer steering wheel shaft instead, though.

As far as the MM websites go, Everything you see that I know of is done by charity. Even the websites themselves are hosted free on other people's servers. If you get no response, Most likely the regular guys don't know a good anwer to your question. And none are obligated to respond. They just do to be helpful.

For instance I've asked questions about the steering on my Big Mo400 several times with no response. Either no one has any experience with this particular steering system or they are unsure if my problem is in the steering gear, control valve or the pump.

At least that is better than some answers on here that sometimes mix truth, half truth and outright misinformation.

Yea amen brother i wonder why there on here sometimes too, i mean if they dont help anyone than why are they offereing things to people like you and me, and then when we ask them something they could really give a tinkers darn,
I did talk to a really nice older man about MM stuff he was in illinois area and we had a good talk and he was really helpful to me on alot of things,
He gave me some numbers of some older guys that were parts and rep's for MM in the Halcyon day's,
Keep in touch ok,
ill talk to ya later ,
kirk,
