I'm a little behind on my reading,I just read your A4T comments.Very interesting.Only thing I had to add was that they recommended not getting a PTO with the factory 800.Then they could install a solid shaft instead of the hollow one.If you got the 800 and PTO you had to sign off on the warenty.

We always hoped to own a used a4t sometime to farm with and looked at a few for sale but backed away to a White 4-150 instead. The parts that we were worried the most about were the axles. We saw and knew of a number of them that had broken. My dream was to make up a MM 4 wheel with MM 1350 rearends that have the outboard planetary axles. If MM could have developed a model like that and then boosted the horsepower it could have been quite a tractor. The A4t design rides so much better than the White. Dream on.

The 800's torque was hard on the regular top transmission shaft. The sold shaft was stronger. The experimental high horespower transmission had a larger diameter PTO shaft and a larger transmission top shaft with a much heavier wall thickness.

Thanks for the information, learn a little more all the time about those old beasts. Never seen an 800 in person, look like amazing machines. Dad has three of the a4t's all bare backs, they are nice but they do have their moments.
