On the same topic, I have a UTS with a tired 283 and was wondering about increasing it to a 336. What blocks and pistons do I need? It has GE 30 J heads, 670 intake and exhaust manifolds and a Motec reworked carb and governor. Was there a difference between U, M5, 602 and 670 cams or carbs?

hopefully we can get some ol MM mechanic or engineer to give us some wonderful insigt here. I have an M5 that smokes and pulls like a locomotive and burns about 6-7 gph fuel. My buddy schrocky says to tune it down or I will puke it, but it starts hard and grinds feed fast ! The fuel pressure and rpms are hi and someone told me it has late G1000 injectors.wish I knew more about it

Keep it up kid and you will see ! I think it is KOOL it reminds me a little of dads 602 before I restored it. I was told my injectors were set like a G1000, I have no clue what that means but we set the fuel at about 10% over and are back to standard bore and RPM and believe you me there is a world of difference from when I was a kid and plowed with that beast. It seems like I am at 75-80% of the Torc she once had, oh well we can retire in peace !

Re: 336 CI - Motors performance.... in reply to jdputtputt, 02-25-2008 06:35:23
.... I have always been curious, but really have no reason to mess with the old moline, but can a person up the HP a little on all the 336 CI's to recieve the same HP as the 670? Just up the RPM a little and "turn up" the injection pump or????

I have been curious.

I do know that the 670's recieved a compression bump.
