Gentlemen, Hope that I can find more help here than I did on the tractor pulling forum! I am building a big bore 730 Case engine and need to know the compression height and pin diameter of a stock 4 5/8 minnie piston. Also if there are lighter aftermarket pistons I would appreciate that info also. Years ago we built a 930 at 4 5/8 and it seems to me we used a minnie piston but the pin height was such that it did not come to the top of the bore. I think I can overcome that with the crank I'm useing with a bit of offset grind. Would anyone care to help with that info. Thanks in advance, mEl

OK the 45/8 moline gas is 2.840 and the diesel is 2.750 and the case 504 45/8 is 3.3825.The moline piston pin is 1.2499 diesel is 1.4999.The case 730 gas piston is 2.719 and pin 1.35 something about a bushing.Sounds like you would gain compression height.

Thank you ejr, Just the info I need, I think that maybe the 970 rod has a 1.5 pin, not sure about that though, will have to get into the service manuals, sounds like the gas piston with a bushing in the rod to bring the pin size down may be what I need. I may have to keep the piston down the wall a bit to keep the compression under control. I am useing 830 heads as they have a good intake runner in them but a closed chamber YUK. I will CC the chamber then figure where we have to be. Thanks again, mEl
