What are the differences between the UB and the UB Special?

Let's not forget the hydraulic pump. On the Special, it's driven directly off the cam shaft, not behind the distributer like the gas U's and UB's. It's more akin to the G VI and 705's.

Besides what the capt said, I have begun to find some other differences.

The hood panels are different. The left panel on UB Special is formed to cover the steering valve.

The UB Special oil filter is accessed from a removable cover on the left rear of the oil pan. It uses a bigger oil filter than the external filter of the UB. I think the Special's filter number is 10A6865. I ordered 2 of them earlier today current price is just over $22 each. You may need a new gasket for the pan cover plate which is about $8.

I just got this UB Special about 2 weeks ago, so I am learning about the differences, and I hope that somebody can give more and better answers than I can.

the grill looks like a ZB or ZA and G or GB ; most came with factery power steering ; and ZB stayel hood ; but motor is the same ! not as many where built !the front steering post is like the M-5 .
