Got the sheetmetal off today. The tractor is still sitting on my 48' flatbed and there is a metal fab shop about a mile or two away. We are going to lift it with their 50 ton crane and set it on a smaller trailer with ramps so I can pull it off with my other tractor when I get it home. Figured I would probably damage the hood so I took it off. I will try to take some pics of the lift Sat. and post them. I dont have a crank handle but I put a pipe wrench on the pulley and the motor is NOT LOCKED!! It wasnt that easy to turn but the wrench was only 12 inches or so. That gave me inspiration to try and get it running. Should I clean out the propane tank before I put gas in it? Owner said it was last run about 10 years ago. How would I do that if I need to? What other precautions should I take before trying to crank it? I'm sure I will have many more questions and thanks for all the comments on the other post. Brad

I'd not even consider using the origional tank for fuel, Hook up a 20#r with a BBQ hose to the regulator, then try to start it, I use starting fluid, but sparingly, without ANY LP to see if it will run before I use LP.

Peter379,I think I would pull the plugs and pour oil or maybe diesel and transmission fluid mix in the cylinders replace plugs and let it soak.With the LP tank,if all the valves are closed tank should be ok. Look for pitted areas around bottom of tank.I would also clean the screen in bottom of engine oil pan before starting the engine. Hope this helps P.Luna
