wondering what kind of horsepower you could get out of a stock 800 with 4229 heads running about 1800-2000 rpm with a turbocharger?

I looked at that engine tonight and it has 4228 heads on it.

Back in the late 1960's-early 1970's MM sponsored several MM pullers running G-1000 MM's with turboed 800's on LP.They made around 400-450 horses.

They pulled the 15,000 Unlimited class in Illinois and did quite well.The late Bill Newlon from Prophetstown,ILL was one of the better known MM pullers.I have some pictures of these tractors.

You have to be careful - that's for sure.

I ran three turbo'd HD800's for irrigation for several years. Never had any trouble, but the fellow that built them up (a TOP-NOTCH, long time MM engine mechanic) was telling me that years before when he did his first one, they fired it up on the well, sounded great, pumping water to beat the band, and they left thinking everything was great.

Came back a little later and the pistons were melted out of the engine...

I've still got a couple of those engines - I'll try to look up the head #'s and the type of turbo and let you know what they are as a reference...

Never dyno'd them - so I don't know what horsepower they were producing. I was pumping about 1100 gallons/minute from about 420 feet with them.
