Does anyone know the differences/changes made to the diesel 504ci motor used in the G1000 and A4T-1400 tractors to cause the same engine to put out 111hp in the G1000 and 139hp in the A4T-1400?

The 139 HP rating for the A4T1400 was bare engine HP at sea level cngitions. The 110 HP rating on the G1000 was at the PTO in offical Nebraska Test. They were basically same engine both at 1800 RPM. The A4T engine had a tuftrided cranshaft to allow for a dealer installed turbo kit for alltitude comensation and a small power increase.
The bare engine rating was used for the A4T because the competition (Versatile and Steiger) were using bare engine HP ratings on their 4WD tractors. Steiger did not offer a PTO at that time. In 1969 when the A4T was introduced, the Versatile 145 was the leading seller of 4WD tractors. It used a Cummins 504 V8 at 3200 RPM. Most owners quickly found out that reliability and fuel economy was better if then ran them at 2800 RPM.
The A4T1600 LP used the 504B-6 engine at 2200 RPM and was rated at 169 bare engine HP and was introduced in the fall of 69 also. The A4T1600 Diesel went in production in the fall of 1970 with the D585 egine. It was rated at 169 bare engine HP at 2200 RPM. Latter a dealer installed turbo kit was offered for alltitude compensation and a small power increase.
In 1971 a 800 LP engine was offered to dealers for installation in A4T's or 2WD tractors. Respnse was good and in late 71 A4T's were available from the factory with 800 LP engine.
It had a bare engine HP rating of 245 at 2000 RPM.

engine RPM and fuel setting, same thing in the various 336 engines , I think there are also injector differences. You can do a lot with RPM and fuel but I think you shorten the life

The G1000 is governed at 1800 RPM, while the A4T-1400 is governed at 2200 RPM. The percentage increase in power nearly matches the percentage of increase in RPM.

good question... i don't know, but guessing out loud... are both readings pto Hp? or is the 1400 an engine Hp reading? if they are both pto readings, would the 1400's pto be that much more efficient?
