Hey, I have an RTU in good shape but is not running. Won't take a lot of work to repair. What is the value of the tractor?

Chris, I went thru Illionois this last week, was on I-39, and ILL 251? and others. One time I saw a big hay operation called Hey Hey, Hay! along road. Is that YOU? I see your email is similar. Small world if so. Heh!

A-lot depends on year and style. I have seen some of these R's at auctions go for $3500. But have bought some R's for $200. Can you get the serial number and if it is a single wheel model or RTN I would be intersted. Thanks Roger

Roger They are not single wheel. The # on one is 404595. I think it is a '40 model. Thanks

Does it have a flat tank of a two piece tank. They only made around 4800 R's with the flat tank.

Yeah, the "71ford" guys prices probobly are not too far off. They might be a little shy for MN prices, but again it depends on your buyer and timing. These tractors are like baseball cards, they aren't worth squat until someone is willing to pay for it. I don't collect R's, but would buy it for the right amount. (Which wouldn't be much, sorry) Good luck with the restoration and/or sale of the beast!

Its all about location and the rarity of the tractor. A good running R in my area SEWY would bring 500-700, with non-runners from 25-150. I have bought two r"s one for 100 that was loose, rebuilt mag and carb and anothe for 75 that had almost new wards tires on 9 inch rims instead of the normal 11"s and some of the straitest tin you have ever seen. Back east its probably a entirely different game since their are more collectors. Shipping on stuff like this anymore is a killer so most collectors aren"t looking very far from home unless its something rare.

Hope this helps,
