We just aquirred a G705 diesel without a generator and it looks like the tach connects to the back of the generator. Can this be??? How hard are the generators to find??? Thanks for a great forum

when I get back to the shop next week I will e-mail you. R-20 ???? service bulletin offers a kit to switch over to a D drive on LS of engine. We switched a few of the systems over but parts are harder to find. If you have one of about 80 books published you will find this.anyone who wants a copy they sell for 53.00 plus shipping [email protected]

705 diesels amd MF97 diesels drove the tack off the back of the generator - book or no book.

YES, DIESEL 705 WOULD HAVE TACH. DRIVE OFF OF REAR OF GENERATOR. I BELIEVE A 90 DEGREE ADAPTER ALSO IS PART OF THE SYSTEM. MY 97 L.P.DRIVES OFF OF DIST. ASSEMBLY, MY FRIENDS 97 DIESEL DRIVES OFF OF GENERATOR JUST LIKE YOU WOULD EXPECT DIESEL 705 TO DO. KEEP LOOKING , SHOULD NOT BE TO HARD TO FIND , CLINT STAMM IN WASHINGTON , KS. SHOULD BE ABLE TO HELP YOU . IF HE CANT , HE WILL KNOW WHO CAN !!!! GOOD LUCK

I have never seen a tach powered on the Gen on these and my parts books show no such animal. Gens can still be found , I recently found one for a friend from a MF 97. The tachs that I have seen drive from the other side of the engine.Check around in some bone yds, very common Gen nothing special at all.

Im not sure. Doesnt sound likely but I believe where they are on a gas model is where the injection pump is so it wouldnt be there on a diesel. Someone somewhere knows for sure.....
