just bought a 57 moline 335, without looking at it, before it came off the guys trailer. He nocked the price down from 2750, to 2500, plus dilivery. The tractor sounded good, and started well, He also ran the buchet up high, and the 3pt went up & down. I paid him, and he backed it off the trailer, and left. When I went to move it out of my drive, it only turns to the left, very little, to the right. Looks like I will be trying to find a gear box for it. SMILE'

had some time today, after chores&church, so I was looking it over, and noticed that the power steering pump, was an automotive add on. Then I found the steering gear to, also be a scabbed on truck unit, and was welded to the loader frame rail, where it stops at the side of the radiator. The tie rods are also home made. I jacked it up and got under the front and could finally see the abandoned, steering link. :Great day:

In our world we"ve seen any number of issues similar to yours, but we approach them the same way, regardless of the color of the tractor. You can anticipate the worst but go for the least cost, smallest challenge first. In this case raise the front wheels off the ground and then begin diagnosis. How"s it steer now? You could have bad or missing thrust bearing, sticking spindle, bent spindle, spindle bushing issues, steering joint problems, and mixes or multiples of any of the above all before the gear box scenario, and guess what, it could be there also. We also had customer have us work on his tractor last week("steering box junk" by a neighbors analysis) and it was simply frozen(like ICE). Bottom line, start simple and go on from there as results rear their ugly head. Use the KISS method and if needs arise call 920 295 3278, River Dale FarMMS, Good Luck, Dale and Doug

Try pulling the drop yoke first as it is splined to the shaft and has the stops cast in it.Make shure it turns from stop to stop. If the power stering works it is out of time. This isnt a hard fix. You got a bargin dont cry.

Assuming it has power steering, it sounds like someone had the steering apart and didn't get the sector timed with the power steering piston when they reassembled it.
