Anyone know the differance between the 2 years? I bought a 1936 JT to restore and it turns out Granddad had a 1937. The thing I noticed was the aircleaner is taller on the 37 but otherwise looks to be same.

Very little difference between the years, I think.

I have noticed the difference in air cleaner cap heights too. I haven't spent enough time with the parts book to tell if the tall one was an option. the top of my '37 is not very much taller than the radiator cap. Does your still have the JE engine? Mine is also on factory rubber tires.

Yes it has the original JE engine and is on factory rubber-bought the tractor in Nebraska. Everything is there except for the hand crank and fenders. Sheetmetal is in great shape and engine is loose. I'm having it gone through and will know more about it in a few weeks. Tires are rotted and flat but still had the remains of a closed tread tire on the left rear.

I bought someone else's restoration project. I think the carburetor and the manifold stumped him.

The back rims had already been fixed. I was fortunate enough to buy 2 of those closed tread tires for $10 at an auction. And though rough, they have no breaks in them and fit the rims perfectly.

If you need a carb kit, its the came as the earliest CC or DC Case. Actually mine is running a CC or DC carb with the original venturi and jets in it, because my original carb had been broken at the air horn and welded which froze the idle screw in place. I hope you have a working original magneto. The magnet in my original died.

I'm running a replacement base-mount Fairbanks-Morse FMJ. If you need a replacement magneto it needs 35 degrees of advance and that is not in any MM literature that I have seen. Someone on here that has magneto literature provided that information.

The two biggest problems with fixing my JT to run was getting the manifold fixed and timing the magneto.

The JE engine is kinda lazy at idle. Not much power. But it does O.K. at fast idle, although not as good as the RE engine that replaced it in the ZT tractors. It may run even better on kerosene than it does on gasoline, but the guy who fixed my manifold left the baffle out, so I can't use kerosene in mine.

Kelvin,

I didn't realize untill after I sent that manifold back how critical that little ear is. Toss the stack in a box and I'll add a piece to it .
