R OIL PRESSURE

My 47 r had no oil pressure when i purchased it. I took the pressure spring and valve out that is next to oil filter and cleaned and reset had good oil pressure. 2 years later i again have no oil pressure tried to clean and adjust again but did not work. Will i have to pull oil pump and check for gears being okay? What am i going to get into?

One thought: I just ran into this on a 206 power unit: take the distribuitor cap or magneto cap off (Or you can remove the mag. just scribe a mark across the case and block so you can put it back in time.) check to see that the oil pump shaft is indeed turning. Sometimes they shear the drive pin in the gear on the oil pump shaft. I guess they could also shear the keys in the oil pump gears.

You do have plenty of oil in the engine, don't you?

If there is a plug/or oil line on the side of the block just above the pump,(on the left side of the tractor as you sit on it,) try pumping a generous amount of oil in there and see if by chance it lost its prime.

It Could also be a clogged pickup screen in the crankcase.
