Hello need to fit tractor in container for overseas transport. Found nice G900 and guy told me it will fit ok without taking tires of.
Talking to my dad we decided a 900 has not enough power for our farm. Does a G1000 have the same size as a 900 ?
What rear tire size G1000 normaly have ?
Is the only difference between these tractors the engine size 425 ci and 504 ci ?? (please corect me if wrong)
Dont need to put duals on, so rear axle can be made shorter if needed.
Also got offerd a 1050 but I think this model is very wide with these cast rear hubs.
Thanks for any help.

The G900 and G1000 use the same transmission and rear end housings. (Different again between early and late models) The same ring and pinions also. top shaft is the same in the transmissions and a few other gears. The G900 and the M670 share a few gears also. Bull gears and bull pinions are lighter in the G900 or about the same as a early G1000. I have a 1966 G1000. Rear ends different again then our late model G900. G950, G1050 and G1350 all use the same ring and pinions, transmission and rear end housings, but not axle housings. All use the same top shaft. Gears are mixed around. Heavier for more powered tractors. The ring and pinion in the 50 series changed. They have like 9 teeth on the pinion instead of 7. Ratio is similar. Ring gear is different too obviously. All three have different axles and axle housings. There are like 5 different changes in the trans/ rear differentials From 1965 to 1971. Engine can be manipulated into what you want. 800 cube engine is different also 585 diesel different.

What about a MM705 or Massey 97 they both have the 504 and fit straight into a container. I did this last year including a 95 super with the smaller engine.

Like the look of the later G1000 tractors with the yellow painted engine and transmission and the black stripe around the hood.
To Bill from Scotland :
Did find a MM G1050 diesel with cab in England. Tractor was rough and had the white grill piece on it. Don`t like the look of that. Also overpriced. If you are interested can give pictures and adress.

Thanks for the info. Have to keep looking for a 1000 or 1050. That big 504ci engine must give loads of torque ! To bad there are not that many nice onces for sale. A 900 was easy to find.

If it is a G1000 Vista, I would take it over the model 900. If it is the earlier G1000 and you plan on heavy tillage, I would go for the 1050, which has much heavier axles. The tires would nomally be 18.4-34 or 18.4-38. I'm not overly busy, so will look at some sales literature and see if they offered 20.8-38 during this time frame. You could still set the tires in and cut off the axles on the 1050. But it sure seems a shame to inflect such "damage" on a good tractor.

I believe that the 900 and 1000 are the same physical size, the only real difference is the engines CID.
