Does anyone out there have a source for U302 front rims. According to the parts book there are two different size that can be used.

PartNumber 11A862 (standard) or 11A989 (optional)

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am thinking that some of the U302s had 18" front wheels. Which do you need, 16" or 18"?

If you need 16" wheels, Look at rims for a John Deere 40 or 420. They have the correct offset to work on the earlier narrow front MMs, such as Z and ZB, where a Ford tractor type wheel has so much offset it scrubs the pedestal. The only problem is that the 40/420 wheel is for a 5.50-16 tire. and probably will look odd with any tire over 6.00-16.

I don't know where you should look for 18" wheels.

I forgot to add that on some of those hubs you can knock the bearings and seals out, swap the bearing to the opposite ends-the I.D. of one is larger than the other-and reassemble with the hub spaced farter out from the spindle.

I did this on a 335u with the heavy
duty spindles on it.

It does increase the stress load on the spindle to space the wheel out unless you use a deeper dish rim to compensate by putting the tire back closer to the spindle.

T.R.K. Sounds like your on the right track. The tractor I have has 5.560/16 rim. I will have to go to the local JD dealer to check it out. Thanks for your input.

Honestly there are hundreds of types that will FIT and last. Basically any 6or 12 hole rim will fit so long as the ID Of the rim center. The ones off a Z many implement and many more it should not be hard to find a nice set.

Joe I understand about the bolt pattern and the ID of center hole. I agree with you on that point there out there but I see the position of the center plate as a problem. If I recall correctly there is a difference, the center plate is not centered. It is off center and I see this as a problem. If the center plate is centered the tire will rub. I me be way off on this, if so please set me straight. Thanks for your reply.
I hope the point I tried to make is clear then mud.

I may be wrong but I think you can usualy turn the wheel around (out side in) and it is dished off senter enough to work the other way but it might not work if you are using wider tires but the normal 6in wide rims usualy work that way I think they use this to ajust wheel width to on tractors it is in the manual on the 550 Oliver that has the same wheels the MM Jet Star 2 of grandpas has on it
