How rare are the short Jet Stars with the front end built backwards.

The front end is reversible on those tractors to allow two different wheelbases. I believe this is something they show as a feature in the original sales literature.

It actually takes different front and rear mounts for the axle to reverse the axle and I am thinking the sector gear in the front bolster has to be turned to the opposite side of the bolster shaft. I don't know if all the sector gears had the extra keyway or whatever it took to change them around.

I understand MM did offer this conversion as a kit. If you are looking for parts, find a Big MO 400 military, it will have all the correct parts but will be manual steering and have a fixed width front axle. (at least mine does.)

Yes Kelvin, You are correct because also the bolster acts as the steer stops as well to keep the wheels from turning past center. The biggest part of jetstars will have either on side or both sides broken off because of the sudden stop and strain on the cast from cutting the wheels hard. I just went thought is with my parts Big Mo 400 M. It had a good one on it and I replaced the one on my jetstar.
