OK, I got the head off. I found three pistons froze in the block. I then removed rod caps and removed the one free piston. I drove a second piston out the top with a little force on the end of a hammer handle. The two others were frozen hard in the block. I turned the crankshaft and the cylinder block popped up from the lower engine case allowing me to get a strap under the block and hoist if off and onto a table. Using a flat steel mandrel on the top and an air chisel with a blunt tool on the underside of the pistons I was able to work the pistons up from the bottom and down from the top until they freed up and out the top. This really went easier than I though it would be after 8 years of open exhaust to the weather. I found a lot of rust in three cylinder bores, and in the lower case on the left side around the lifters, and camshaft. The camshaft and the crankshaft look to be rust free. The overhead valve assembly is rusted somewhat also. I need to get the head, cylinder block, lower case, crankshaft, and rods over to my machine shop to sort out the damage and make some decisions about what can be used. I am sure I will have to over-boring the cylinders and insert repair sleeves. It appears that the previous owner has already bored out the cylinders once. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions from here? TIA
