I found a 1950 U with the 16" cast front wheel Del Monte. When MM started building the UTN in 1950 with the 038 serial numbers. Did all those tractor leave the factory with the 16" or 10" wheel? I never have found a part book with the 16" wheel? Did any of the UBN ever have the 16" cast wheel? Is the 16" wheel rare what kind of value for a fork and 16" cast wheel?

I have seen 3 different UTNs here in AZ with the 16" cast wheel. I have one on my UBN as well. It was not original on my UBN but it fit without any problem. I believe the forks for the UTN that it came off of were an inch or two longer than the UBN forks.

I've got UTN #75 of the 038 serial number prefix, which is an early 1950 model. My tractor came out of southern California and it has the 16" front wheel. I believe MM made a change in front wheels to the smaller wheel somewhere in the middle of the production run. I have seen later 038 prefix UTN's that have the smaller front wheel. The 16" cast wheel was always featured in the Del Monte ads. Could that have been a wheel created for Del Monte or was that just at the time of the contract? My guess is they went to the smaller front wheel as a cost savings exercise, plus it was less prone to being damaged. ~Zack Peterson

We picked up Mark"s tractor tonight. We found out it came from south, central Oregon and had been there for a while, but dont know how long. I have seen 3 other UTN"s with this front wheel, but the others have had the 10" wheel, like the one that is shown in my original UT op manual. My 52" UTE has a single front on it, which is the 10" wheel, and know of another two U"s with single fronts. Since the tag on Marks tractor just says U on it, No UTU, UT or anything else, I was wondering if it was an early UTN, before they made a seperate designation. Is there any way to track where these tractors were shipped? Or any other build info? I know Deere can track some of its machines, but curious about Molines. Thanks for any help.
