Hey guys. I just bought the largest set of jahns pistons that welters sells for my u. Had my blocks bored ,honed, etc. Now my question is would it be safe to shave down my heads to give it more compression? I have 4210 heads and 4213 heads. Which pair should I use? Also has anyone ever cut the skirts down on their pistons just to lighten them up? I have a gram scale with various settings to get them all the same weight. Thanks in advance gents.

I presume you bought the 4.375, .060 over Jahns pistons. Your best bet would be to use 4207 heads for the highest compression ratio. The 4207"s are high altitude propane heads. Using them will give you perhaps 9.5 or 10:1 compression ratio. You will need to run high octane gasoline--like 111 race gas.
A note of caution: the recommended piston to cylinder diametral clearance is .008". Mind this. Less will lead to serious trouble.
