HI Guys. I am still on the prowl for an early MM to restore. This will be my first MM.

I just got a call tonight informing me that there is an M602 Diesel available 300 miles from me. The engine runs and the tractor seems to be in working condition. The seller is not pushing to sell, but has told me he will sell to me if I want it. No price has been set or offer has been made as of yet.

I see that the diesel was only made in 1963-'64, and only 1700+ were made. I am wondering about the diesel engine. If I understand my references the diesel was the same engine as the gasoline and LPG engines. That would make engine parts more available, right?

I am going to restore any MM I get to as new condition as possible. Are these good tractors to have and will the restoration parts be readly available?

The 2007 tractor blue book tops out at $3800 for resale of a good running tractor. Does this price sound in the ballpark for what you have seen them sell for?

Thanks for your information and advise on this subject.

I stopped to look at a M602 diesel on side of road with For Sale sign a while back - nice 3 point - good matched tires, good sheetmetal except for one side of grill. Asking was $5000 as a working not collecting tractor - I figured way too much for me - I never even followed up to see what he would take. Guess everyone else figured same as it has been there since first of year - I"m guessing he would jump at $3800 - or at least he should - I agree with the $2500 estimate.

I have a decent one down the road that a fella wants to sell me. I told him it was worth $2000-2500. Bought a nice M5 and M670 for $3000 each. $3800 might be worth it if it is really good shape. Not too many M602 around. It was an in between model. I'd say $2500 would be decent.
