Hi guys just want you to know I'm not a Minni mechanic. I'm fixing a Z for a guy. The motor will only turn over a small amount in each direction. I'm assuming it's the front roller bearing locking up. i have removed the side cover and everything looks to be in good shape. This is a newer model that only has the front roller bearing. Can anyone help me. Thanks

I wouldn't think the bearing would set up either.
You could disconnect the rods and try to turn the crankshaft. and see if all pistons go to the top.
Or since you have the side cover off rotate the crankshaft till it stops then see if all rods have some back and forth side play. proabley 10/1000 if one has none then this piston could have some obstruction in the cylinder. But it could something else. good luck

The posts above are great. I would try to eliminate evry other possibility before I went after that bearing. I, too had a similar problem with a JD B. The problem turned out to be ice in the oil pump. On a Z, you can run into trouble with something as small as a siezed distributor. Think it through and eliminate the other possibilities before take a big plunge.

I had a motor (not Minnie) do that. took the head off and we found the timing was off so far the exhaust valve wouldn't open and would build up compression in one cylinder. Timing gears were shot and jumped a few cogs.

just a thought, maybe something in the bellhousing keeping the flywheel from turning or something in the oilpump or a piece of something in one cylinder, there is no room as the piston comes ALL the way up
