red nose u first gear

I was wondering if anybody new what the tooth count was on a first gear out of a red nose U I am trying to split my 1st and 2nd gears and was told if you put in a red nose u first gear it would do that.the tractor I am wanting to do this to is a 1949 MM GTB Thanks Brandon

Its not that simple I'm sorry to tell you, The old red nose had a slower constant mesh and fast ring and pinion. The 1st in the old trans is where you 3rd is in your G and you can't fool with that because it also make reverse. You could put a different ratio where 4th's at. The easiest one the change is 2nd but I'm guessing you want 1st, 2nd and one in between?

I have a 1946 with old style 1st and 3rd gear locations on the shift pattern. Is my ring and pinion faster than my 1947 with regular pattern?

I can put it where 2nd is the problem is I have to run 3mph and 2nd is way to fast for the power I have but there is times where first aint quiet fast enough that is why I was wanting to split them Brandon
