The 403 ring gear will fit on the UB flywheel. That will make the 403 crankcase and starter work in the UB.

Yes it will bolt up the 403 ring gear is bigger and you will need to grind out the inside of the bellhousing to make it fit. You will also need to change the water inlet at the water pump. Or you can take all the internal parts and change them into the UB crankcase.

Unless your 403 flywheel is set up for a foot clutch, It is Probably best to build the engine on a 283 crankcase so that you can use the UB flywheel and starter.

Its a bit easier to put a 403 power unit engine into a hand clutch U, Then you only have the starter nose/bell housing interferance to worry about.

There are also water manifold to top radiator outlet and temperature guage sender/hood interferance problems to work out because of the extra tall blocks on a 403.
