I just aquired a Gvi diesel, and I can"t get it started. It had been sitting for some time- the oil filters are marked "96. The seller pull-started it, and it ran kinda rough, but ran. I put batteries in it, and it turns over good, but won"t fire. I"d rather not try to pull it off the trailer- don"t want to wreck it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks- Kevin

Thanks for the replies. I finally got the old hog running. I put 2 cans of injector cleaner in the fuel, and removed a small plug from the intake manifold to give it a straight shot of ether. She ran real rough for a while, buy as soon as my overdose of injector cleaner got through everything, it smoothed out real good. It will idle smooth at 300 rpm now. Changed the oil, and I think it will be OK. I"ll know more when I hook it to a plow in a couple weeks. Thanks again- Kevin

Whilst its not ideal, My Gvi need a little dose of aerostart (ether) before it fires up off the batteries. The MM engine uses the Lanova energy cell system which doesnt really allow for good cold starting. Ours runs rough too, once goin, but soon settles down once warmed up. Seems to be the norm with these tractors (?)good luck.

Just a thought for pulling it off the trailer, we use a 10' 2" pipe push bar, with a bigger tractor doing the pulling it'll be under control. The pipe has fittings like a wagon tounge welded to each end so you utilize both tractors drawbar.
