I bought a ZTU a year ago to restore.
I was told that it ran before sitting many years.
The engine is not stuck. The problem is tnat I can not get it started. I have replaced the carb. The timing order is different from the manual. It is a hand crank (no starter) and I can get it to pop. What is the compression on the motor suposte to be? (not in manuals)

Two thoughts:

Firing order for the engine is 1,3,4,2. #1 is the front cylinder. It doesn't matter which post on the mag is #1 as long as there is a spark there at the right time.
The rotation of the rotor button shoud be clockwise for a magneto.

Another thought is the valves. Sometimes after the tractors sit, they stick in the open position.

Last thought-happened on a 206 engine I bought from a junk dealer-the pin through the gear driving the oil pump shaft had sheared, throwing the ignition out of time.

I will look at the pin.

ps Do you know where I can get the gasket between the engine and water jacket side?

I also have a ZTU that didn't come with a starter. So I cranked on it for awhile and could'nt get it started. So I tried to pull start it and finally fired. After all of that I put a starter on it. I don't know what the compression is supost to be but mine is around 95psi
