wrist pin bushings for Z

Does anyone know of any other bushings that will interchange with a Z wrist pin bushing? A Minneapolis or some other alternative?

Which Z bushing? There was a change in the early 40's from a brass bushing to a steel backed bushing and they do not interchange. My machine shop was able to press the later steel bushing into the early rods but honing took out all the brass.

I was able to get a set of the early bushings from Welters, 417-498-6496, in 2001 but they said those were the last they had. They may have gotten more, I don't know.

If you want the later bushing, I've gotten a couple sets from Wendell Everett 740-922-3335.

This is an engine out of a '40 model. It appears to be a bronze bushing, pretty thin. I had a bearing house look at it & they said they couldn't replace it. I am looking for an alternative part to fix it with.

Any machine shop can make a bronze bushing press it in and hone it to size.

Have you tried to find some oversize piston pins? They were available in .003 and .005 oversize.

Another thought is if you can get the Z rods honed to the correct O.D. to use the late bushings. Or find a later set of Z rods.

The only other thing I could tell you is that Ford Model A engines use a 1" piston pin. Also there was a certain Buick engine that had a 1" pin. And I am thinking that a certain Allis Chalmers engine used a 1" pin.
I don't know what their pin bushings were like.
