Do any of you know.... is it possible for hydraulic oil to get into the crank case through the pump? If so, what seal/part would I need to repair the problem? Thanks! You can also reply directly to [email protected]

Hydraulic oil can enter the crankcase because the shaft seal on hydraulic pump is leaking.Problem can be cured by replacing shaft seal in pump.Make sure too check shaft for wear.

How can we tell you what seal-if we even know-if you don't tell us what tractor the pump is on?

(Sorry! this is the wife typing - you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this stuff!) It's a Moline ZB 1949.

two things: MM only made the ZB from 1953 to 1955. Either the year is wrong or you have a ZA.

The second thing is you need to know if your pump is an Eaton or Webster. (The Eaton pumps had some problems. There was a kit to replace it with the Webster that used a different suction pipe.) ZA and ZB tractors used the same pumps, so the tractor model is not an issue as far as getting a seal goes.

The Eaton pump was pretty much round. It had a rotor type pumping system. The Webster pump has an oblong body. The Webster pumps I have seen have a tag on them, but I think it is either on the bottom or next to the engine.

After you determine which pump you have, Call Welters 417-498-6496, or Wendell Everett 740-922-3335. Either one should be able to help you with a seal. If not, get back on here with another post.
