Where would one find a book or web page that tells you the year of the motor by the motor serial plate number. I know they have them some where ,but not sure where to look. Thanks

There is an online site listing years 1944 thru 1953 at jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com - this is from a 1954 dealer's repair parts memo for M-M and Louisville products.

That info was printed on certain dealer service letters. Only a few individuals have copies of that info. I don't have a copy.

If you will post the serial number of whatever engine you have, BMG, Ill John, or JK2 can probably tell you.

I would like a list just for future reference. I all ways hear people say what year the motor was but never had a book to look it up my self, nice to have when looking at a tractor to make sure it is all original . It sounds like it is a secret of some sort , who knows why , but it sure would be nice to have a copy of some sort. Thanks

There is an excellent compilation of tractor and motor s/n as well as lots of implements for MM, Oliver, White, Avery, Cockshutt, & Cletrac - put together by Lloyd McCray - you can purchase directly from him or from MMCI - price is about $12-15 + shipping and it is well worth the money in my opinion. I agree. Very good reference for those interested in engine serial numbers and the like. Nice compilation of several serial number references including many dealer only references. I wish I would have known it was available sooner. I wouldn't have spent so much time trying to compile it myself. Oh well, live and learn.
