Does any body know what this is? The front rims say JT on them and the serial tag is rusted out ,but can see were it says model number and it says what looks to be a SE and the rest of the tag is gone.

Definitely a ZT. I've just sold my JT and do have pictures if interested. The JT has a extended front steering as the air cleaner is mounted in front of the radiator. As for you wheels, they are most likely cut offsb, but you usually can tell it by the welds on the spokes. Moline did have original wheels like these but the spokes are welded to the outside of the center ridge on both sides of the wheel. My uncle has cut off steel and the spoke on one side is welded to the top of the center ridge. The JT that I've sold had the original spoked rubber wheels and I have a parts manual listing three wheel options: cast center with rubber; spoked on steel; and spoked wheels with rubber. Mike,
You've got a model ZTU but unfortunately the engine is not original to the tractor. The engine is a 1949 engine from a ZA series tractor at 206 cubic inches. The ZT series was made through 1948 and it came with a 4-1/2" stroke 186 cubic inch engine versus the 5" stroke 206 ZA engine currently in your tractor. We can't use the the engine to pinpoint the year of your tractor. Sorry.

based on your pictures I would think it is a 1941-1944. The larger round fenders replaced the square corner fenders in '41. Most tractor serial tags from during the war years are rotted or unreadible because steel tags were used and not aluminum. I agree with the other gentleman about the war time cast steering wheel, I know of a Z that was purchased in Nov. 1941 and it still had the 3 spoke rubber steering wheel. I would think your tractor was shipped on steel during the war and after the war rims were welded on the spokes and maybe some JT or early ZT wheels became available. Hope this helps, eb

I agree, Its a ZT, probably early '40s. It could have come with the cast JT fronts. I have '38 ZTU with those front wheels on it. The rears are definately cutoffs. It also has a 206 engine in it, it is a farily easy engine swap.

I checked on my ZT's.I have a 39,40,44,45,46,47. All motors have 6 digit serial number.

By pix and serial # it is a 1948 or 49 ZTU. JT is pre 40's. Some JT components were used after wartime because of the rubber shortage. Cast steering wheels in wartime had JT numbers as well as steel wheels and hubs. Motor could have been changed also. Usually you can tell year by battery box and instrument panel. Hope this helps!
