i purchased the repro cover from welters. wish it was primed, but that's ok.
this also has a lip that the original did not, or the pieces of the original did not. which way is up?
is there supposed to be a gasket between the cover and the front bolster? if so i may just apply sealer to it.

Karl,
The lip goes down and wraps over the back of the front pedestal casting. I had to ream the holes out on my new plate from Welter's to get it to match the front casting on my UBED the way I liked. Otherwise it would have hung out one side more than the grill. Might want to test fit before painting.

I would call Welters and ask. I don't remember a lip on them either.

I would just smear the gasket surface good with RTV, and it should be O.K. I never understood why Us used 1/8" plates and Z and R used 1/4" plates.
