Does anyone know a way to machine the head on an MM Z? I need to help my machine shop out on how to machine it because it isn't a standard flat head.

Thanks in advance.

Todd

I have a head that has some rust pits on the machined surface that mates up with the blocks. I need to machine this surface.

In a mill is the only way, endmill. It would be a better job if done on a bedmill rather than a knee type mill butI wouldn't worry about pits, and it would be cheaper to buy a head that was good then to surface that one. On ebay a std "Z" head only bring 25-50$ usually. the only heads worth putting much work into are the lp Za heads.

I agree with LW. You can buy a gas head for a fairly cheap price. But a lp head is the way to go.
