I Have A Model R And Seat Rides Terrible, Went On A 30 Mile Tractor Ride Sat. & Now I'm Hardley Walking Ha! Would The Seat Off A ZA Or U Fit On An R ? I Know I Would Have to Make Sure The Flat Bar Was The Correct Length. I Mean The Seat That Has The Spring With Shock Inside. I Saw On This Site Someone Called Them A Float Ride Seat? I Hope this Is the Correct Name. If they Would Fit I Would Like To Find One.

Referencing catalog# R-1072D covering ZA models the Flote-Ride seat and smaller (5 3/4") lights were introduced late in the 1950 model year simultaneously - ZAU #00604141 for instance. Knoedler's name not mentioned in catalog but of course is on the seat decal.

The late model R's had a float ride seat. It actually was a Kneodler and was the same as on the ZA, ZB, and the late U's. It has the shock with a spring around it. So if you can find a late model R around 51 to 53 it should have the seat you want
