Oversize ZB Pistons

Is there any supplier of oversize pistons and rings for the 206 engine? Machine shop said can bore and resleeve back to standard, but will cost a mint. They said that unless oversize pistons are super expensive, they would be the most economical. Machine shop and I have made several phone calls, but without any results.

The Welters piston is 3.75"+.060" or 3.81", made by Jahns, and very nice. The shop that bored my blocks didn't have the proper tooling to reach all the way to the top of the bore, was about .0625" shy, so they chucked the pistons in the lathe and cut a .125" chamfer around the piston tops. Was a cheap and easy solution to the problem.

About 3 years ago Wendell Everett had .040 over 206 pistons that were $75 each then. which was a lot better than the $125-130 for genuine AGCO. Although AGCO pistons were available in .060 and (I think) .020 sizes.

Did your machine shop tell you what oversize to be asking for? There is a certain minimum diameter at which they can bore a clean hole in a worn cylinder.

Also some of the automotive shops around here don't have the tooling to bore to the bottom of a ZB block since it is a flat bottom hole. Make sure they do and won't add the cost of the tool to your bill.

Thanks for all your replies. I've talked to Welters, but have yet reached Mr. Everett. I have found a machine shop near here that has the tooling and has bored MM blocks before. One of the few around. He thinks that .020 would clean the cylinders up, but may have to go more. All depends on what size pistons I can come up with.
