The three point hitch on my 445 drops too fast. My IT manual says to turn the notched wheel of the drop retarder adjusting screw. No diagram to find this screw. Do I have to remove the cover plate? Thanks

Dan, I think what they're really saying is that there is no drop rate control, except you. The notched wheel they're talking about is the one on the three point control quadrant (external)and to set it to a point where you're just barely dropping. There is no other control on an old 445 that I'm aware of.

Curt - is the notched wheel on the right side of the valve control box? I can't find a picture of it. Thanks

All but a very few of the first 445's had the tele-o flo lift which had 2 levers through the cover plate to adj the rate of drop. On these first ones I think it's an internal adj. Someone else may be able to shed more light.

This is not a teloflo system with the external, often broken rate and cycle levers. I am sure it is one of the earlier 445s.
