i was cleaning some old jugs and pistons out of my 445 and noticed that i have two different casting numbers on the two sets of jugs i have, and one set of pistons wont fit in the other. in trying to chase down the differences, i'm not finding much. i dont have the numbers with me, but did different fuels use different piston sizes and jugs?

My 445 Repair Manual gives a p/n of 11A5834B for the cylinders for a gas, tractor fuel or LP Gas engine and p/n 11A9199 for the diesel cylinders. HTH

Garry, it sounds like one of your jugs has been bored for oversize pistons. Are there any numbers on the top of the larger pistons?

If its a lot of difference in bore-like 1/8 inch your larger jugs may be from a 220 cu. in.

Another way to tell-the 220 jugs I have seen have all had the bottom of the sleeves cast with their cylinder bores joined between them. then a saw slot was made between the 2 cylinder sleeves.

How much bigger is the other jug? Someone may have used a jug and pistons out of a 220 cube. I am not up to par on those numbers of jugs. Keep us informed on what you find out.

not much difference, i have not measured, but the jugs from one of them wont fit in the other. one is just a bit smaller. i think one set came off an irrigation engine but the block numbers were the same as mine. just wondered if there were differences between irrigation, gas, propane etc.
