tsx 67 adjustment

any one have any advice I have heard main jet ou from 4-6 turns and idle jet 2-4 I need help, smokes quit a bit and hesitates when you tromp on it

I think those adjustments are too far out. close both needles and bring them out 2 1/2 turns

Adjust it and do not pay any attention to what you have heard.You need first turn those srews in to where you pinch off the fuel to where the RPMs drop off then open up to get maxiumm RPMs.Both at high speed and at idle RPMs which is controlled by the throttle stop screw.Let us know if this works.Post again soon.Its sunday and I must get ready to go.CENTAUR

If it smokes quite a bit, is it fouling plugs? It usually fouls plugs eventually if it is getting too much fuel.

It can also smoke right much if the oil rings aren't doing their job. And God forbid, a blown head gasket or cracked head can cause smoke too.

Also, hesitating when you 'tromp on it' can be cause by weak spark. You may need to clean your ponts or install a new set or try another known to be good coil.

If your governor is O.K. and you can rev it to fast idle (It is 1400 rpm for a U.) without it running away, try screwing both needles in and see if the smoke goes away. Then try the same thing with the throttle back, but this time, only with the idle screw.

If you screw the needles in to the point it starts to sputter from lack of fuel and the smoke doesn't stop, there is probably some other problem causing the smoke.

I would suggest you clean the carb and boil it out in a tank. also look for other problems or damaged parts.
