I'd like your guys thought of buying an engine kit. Of who, what, where to buy. Or who what where NOT to buy. My idea is to get .125 over of factory bore. Maby someone in here has another suggestion.

Also...Is it possable to get rubber gaskets for these engines? Mostly for the side pannel. Thanx anyone!

 206 parts in reply to G-ROWDY, 06-09-2007 14:13:18
I may sound like a broken record but I have found Welters, in MO 417-498-6496 to be the best. I only wish I could find an IH dealer as knowledgeable and helpful. Call them! You will likely speak to Sally or Lois and those gals could tell you, off the top of their head, if what you wish to do is do-able and they will supply the parts and counsel you seek.

G, I am not aware of any "kit" for such a thing and I don't know that 125 overs are out there or recommended. Parts are readily available from Welters for these engines, including gaskets.

Thank you for the repl Curt Cooke. Was wondering If I was going to get a respond.\

Well....Thats A reason I brought the idea in here. Things I'm not sure by experence of Molines. I mostly use them not buy parts or work on them. Most of my thought comes from books and the web. Not as much as a hands on experence. So my thinking is...

A 445 206 engine has a bore and stroke of 3.62 X 5.00.

A U302 220 engine has a bore and stroke of 3.75 X 5.00.

3.625 + .125 = 3.75. Along with a U302 gasket. So will I be set?

I'm still looking for the best place to purchase parts, parts to order that I might not get in the kit, And just anything ANYTHING.

U302 (220) pistons themselves won't work on the 206 rods. For some reason MM used a longer rod/shorter piston on the U302.

If you put plain u302 pistons on your 206 rods your pistons will lack about 1/4" coming to the top of the cylider bores.

There are oversize pistons available for the 206. the size I have used most is .040 over. I am aware that AGCO offers .020 and .060 too. I am also thinking that someone has an even larger overbore for the 206, it just doesn't use stock U302 pistons. (Perhaps its Welters. 417-498-6496)

The way you ask your question, I am assuming you are wanting to tractor pull. Be aware that at some point larger oversizes will fail because the cylinder walls got too thin to hold the pressure of combustion. That said, it sounds like on here that a .125 overbore usually works.

If you just want to use the tractor, I would suggest you just bore to the smallest oversize needed to true up the cylinders and put it back together.
