It is a Bosch APE 80T, pump and the tractors' serial number is less than 10 numbers from the very last 5 star standard ever built. I understand that this pump gives a very useful power increase from the normal 65hp of the diesel engine to arround 70hp, because of highter engine speed.

Only a very few of the 5 Star, or 550 used the inline bosh. Check your serial no. This could be a 550.

There was never a minneapolis moline 550 produced that made it to the public. MM pulled them before they left the factory and reassigned them to the 5 star. Especially after the fact the another company Oliver had a 550 in production at that time. How ever some of the repair manuals made it out that was printed and produced for the 550 A.K.A the 5-star. My 1958 five star has a Bosch American fuel pump on it but is not an inline model.

I have talked to a man in Texas who claims to have an MM 550 LP that I believe is serial number 12. If some did leave the factory, I bet thay did not last due to the rearend casting issue and the weak carriers. It is pretty hard to find any of the really early 5 Stars.

Most MM's used the ASB pump or Roosa Master. The only tractor that I know used the PSB pump was the UTSD-M which was a MM made for export to Turkey.I have a manual for that pump. When you change the oil in motor you do as well in pump. There is a dipdtick on the side of the pump.

The local salvage yard scrapped a 5 star standard with an inline pump on it. Was a real nice tractor and i wish i had bought it. The serial number was near the middle of the run for stds. The pump and drive parts and lines are still on the shelve at the salavge yard if anyone needs them. It was a running tractor when they parted it.

I might be able to use it on my 5 Star Diesel if you can email me the contact information. My current pump is pretty weak.
