I am very interested in MM tractors thinking of buying a G1000 1050 or 1355.
What books should i buy that shows all the models and some technical data ?
What year did they start changing the front of the tractor to the ones that say WHITE on the grill ?
Since I saw Mark Coleberg pull with his Pro Pain tractor in Loisville I just forgot about red and green tractors !

Much infor can be gotten from the Minn. State Historical Museum in St. Paul, Minn--repository of the pictures and history of MM. Also in Charles City Ia. county historical museum (site of Oliver/White.--lots of info and books here. Most MM tractors were shipped to western and NW Minn. and eastern SD and ND as well as Montana--many 160's -4 wheel sent to Mont. Many tractors were also sent to Alberta, Saschatwean (sp), and Manatoba Canada. Hope this helps--there were also many sold in Nebraska, Missouri, and wisc--some in Ind, Ohio and Penn. If I can help more let me know--I have complete line up of ALL MM products in 1963 as well. Alson have some original pictures and manuals.

Thanks James for your information and the time it took you to find it. I will order that book you mention.
I don`t like the look of the White front grill tractors. The MM are much nicer.
Do you know in what states you can find the most MM tractors ? I have a friend in Ohio he is looking around for a MM tractor for me, but only found a couple of diesels, no lp tractor.

LP's were typically used down south, Texas for example, but some areas in Illinois also used the LP MM's. Minnesota really is the heartland of MM and many are still there, but any mid-west state including Ohio has good potential. Didn't see many in Ohio when I grew up, but there were areas they sold well and more recently MM collectors have moved many more to this state from the more western mid-west states. Both Ohio and Missouri have good MM salvage yards.

Disregard what else I have written and use this: The "White" labled front nose was introduced on the 50 series in 1969. The nose/grill on the late 1971 and 1972 models G950, G1050 and G1350 models changed from the "White" lettering to "MM". The MM design continued with the early 55 series tractors in 1973 and within a short period changed back to the White lettering. This was from the book titled "Minneapolis-Moline Farm Tractors" by Chester Peterson jr. and Rod Beemer.

I'm on a little shaky ground here. but I believe it was 1970 or slightly before. Do know that MM dealers and owners didn't like it and they changed it back pretty quickly to "MM". I think even the late 50 series models had the "MM" rather than "White". The subsequent 55 series all definitely had MM. Do know that I have a 50 series with the White front and wish for the MM moniker instead. I own several MM books and if you read them all it gives you a pretty good background. However I have never found one book which really covers everything like which has been done on the IH's and JD's. Perhaps someone will post otherwise and enlighten us both.

The statement that all 55's had MM on the front is bogus. Got one of the books out and it showed a couple of 1355's with White on the front. So either they didn't release any 1355's with MM, or in late production they again went back to the White labeling. The earlier statement that they reverted late model 50's production from White to MM I had read in another book, but have never seen an example. Did see an early model 955 with MM on the front, so at least some of the 55's were produced with MM on the front. Sorry didn't help much, but all I can give is what I've seen and read. Pretty sure the 1970 date for the White front introduction is close if not correct. Although could have been a year sooner.
