I just bought a 69 G950 Diesel and have done a little work on it. Once I got the injector pump back in tune I decided to hook it to my MM plow and pull it. The tractor ran great but the hydraulic valves and pump got very hot, approx. 230+ degrees. I have a jumper hose in one remote and run oil through it most of the time and dont have a problem, but left in in neutral this time. When both levers are in neutral the engine seems to labor. When levers are pulled to raise or lower position, the engine doesnt labor, regardless if it has a jumper hose in it or not. I took the compensator off the pump to check and see if the sensing piston was stuck causing the pump to stroke up all the time, but all seemed ok. In the process the piston that moves the swashplate fell into the case, so I took the pump apart and checked it out. Other than minor wear between the rotating group and valve plate all looks to be ok. Is there something else I need to be looking at? I heard there was a plug back by the control valve and draft control that falls out? On an earlier post I read about compensator settings that cause pump to stroke up all the time. Where should this setting be and how do you correctly set it. The IT manual says to count turns in and out, but mine seemed loose anyway. BTW it took around 5 turns to remove plug. Any help would be great! Thanks

Today I took the plug out of the top of the starter block for the Gresen stack valves and found that it wasn't a normal plug but more of a blanking plug to replace the relief valve. On the bottom of this plug was a white plastic backer ring and what looks like a oring that was broke in half. It would seem that high pressure oil was passing here, causing the heating and letting the pump stroke up all the time. I think I may be on the right track, or am I in left field? Where can one find the seals for the Gresen valve? I found a kit for the Vickers pump, and its on order. Is there any where else some one knows of to look for a restriction or passing oil in the draft control, etc.?

Sorry, I can't help much. Thought about slightly increasing the relief pressure on my 504 powered G950 to handle the CIH 900 12 row planter more easily. My IT manual discussed measuring the pressure, but not a darn thing about where to reset it. These manuals are slightly better than having nothing. Would also be interested in any forthcoming advice which might prove beneficial with any future hydraulic related problems.
