i ordered a set of repro gauges without measuring
my capillary tube. looks like the 40 inchers that are easy to find are too short. where are you U(tu) guys finding the 66" or so long ones?

Sounds like you did the same thing I did ONCE and that was bought some of those cheaper gauges on e-Bay. I'd guess that your oil gauge has a white needle also, against a white face that's not too cool. Antique Gauges 410 822 4963 has temp gauges with appropriate length leads. I think if you look for the Rochester reproduction gauges on e-Bay, they're OK too, they are a little more expensive.
