U water pump

I want to replace the front bushing and oil seal in the back of the water pump on a 1950 U. I have the radiator off, pully moved ahead, bolts removed from the waterpump/timing gear housing, round waterpump end and impeller off, set screw removed. Everything still is pretty much tight, I don't want to pry/hammer too hard yet. How is that supposed to come off? Do I need to take the distributer off?

do you have the timming cover off? there is a couple of bolts behind the crankshaft pully. once you get that off it should pop lose with a slight tap of a rubber malet. then take a pipe wrech and get ahold of that little peice you are wanting out. tap it around and once it breaks lose it will slide out, its kinda hard but you shouldnt break it. and make sure you have the set screw out of the side of the front cover that holds it in.
