I have a 1950 ZAE that has a radiator with a cast cap with a wire clip. On two other ZAS of the same year they have a normal cap. Also the fenders of the ZAE mount different to the ZAS. Is this normal?

Rear axle housings on ZAS were different from the others and had different fenders, I believe from the UT model. When ribbed fenders came out in 1951 an adaptor allowed ZAS to use the same ones as the other ZA tractors. I have also been told that changeover from oval to round radiator cap began with 1951 model, would be informative to know the serial numbers of the two ZAS's you saw.

I have a 1950 ZAU and that has the cast cap with wire clip, my 1952 ZAU has a regular cap. I think it is normal depending upon the year. I would guess that ZAS fenders would be slightly different due to the "standard tread" of the ZAS, but I"m not posative.
