A FRIEND OF MINE IS BUILDING A UB SPECIAL FOR PULLING AND WAS LOOKING FOR PRESSED STEEL WHEELS, HELP IT LOOSE SOME WEIGHT, ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS

Lots of pressed steel wheels for sale on the photo ads here at YT.

Or if you have some parts laying around you could make up a set to work. I made these using a set of 12x38 drop center rims off an old U, and the centers out of another set that had rotten rims.

That's an R. It must have a motor in it to pull those tires. I know mine wouldn't.

It's got a little bit of a motor. More than the 12.4x38's that I ran on it last year would hold on an outdoor track. Indoors the 12.4's are plenty.

I've got 12.4 38 on my R. All I've got is a Z motor so I ought to be ok I think. I pulled it last weekend with 15.5 38 cut tires and spun them so I guess it should pull the 12.4s

How much does yours weigh? I can just get into the 3500, and balance a lot better at 4000 and 4500.

Hey Augie did you have any problems puting those rims together? Getting ready to put the centers out of my 10 inch rims into 12 inchers to put a set of 13.6s on my za. Just wondering if you have any thoughts on doing so before I start. Having the same problem holding power to the track just dosnt happen.

Have you got drop center or flat rims? Much less work with flat rims. You have to remove some material from the centers to fit them into a drop center rim.

There flat base rims. I know one person around here that did it at one time and said he had to grind alot off the flats on the center to get them to fit into his new rims.

Seems like they ought to fit pretty good in flat rims if they came out of flat rims. I suppose there could be some difference in the rim ID between manufacturers.
