I was replacing the hydraulic hoses tonight and snapped one of the brass ells off. I will be replacing it with a steel one. The old hoses were 1/2 inch. I was thinking about replacing them with 3/8 inch. Will this effect how the loader works? Any ideas on how to get the rest of the brass out of the port?

I was able to walk the broken brass piece out with an ez out. Thanks for the help. I went with 3/8" hoses because it was too difficult to fit 4 1/2" hoses into that small area. I drained the hydraulic system and pulled the filter. The condition of the filter tells me it's the original one. I picked up a Wix 1828 at Napa and it was too long, and the o-rings seemed too small. I checked previous posts on this site and discovered that this is a common problem. I called a former MM dealer and they told me that they use the same filter under an AGCO number and you have to slightly crush the filter to get it to fit. Will tightening the canister bolt do this for me or should I dent the filter before I put it in the canister?

Bill, I would stick with the 1/2" hoses if that is what it had. I think the 3/8 would restrict flow to the point you would notice it on a loader.

On my Jet2 with L800, controled through the tel-0-flo, the lift cylinders are too slow anyways and the bucket cylinders are almost too fast.

I just had the same problem with a cylinder off a 445 cultivator. I used a plumbers ez out and it popped right out.
